Buy an energy efficient fridge/freezer
Installing an energy efficient appliance will help to conserve electricity and your money.
Look out for the Energy Saving Recommended logo when buying a new fridge, freezer or combined fridge and freezer. This logo means that the appliance either meets or exceeds Government specified efficiency requirements and will save energy, cost less to run and help the environment.
Efficient models save energy by using highly effective compressors, improved insulation, and more precise temperature and defrost mechanisms. These measures stop power wastage and therefore require much less energy to run.

UK households use £1.6 billion worth of electricity every year on cooling and freezing food and drinks. If everyone upgraded their fridges and freezers to Energy Saving Recommended ones, energy wastage would be cut by two thirds, saving nearly £900 million and the equivalent CO2 emissions of 600,000 homes.
