Turn your PC and monitor off properly when not in use
Check your monitor and printer as well to make sure no other equipment is left on unnecessarily overnight.
Make sure that your PC is completely switched off at the end of every working day instead of just being locked or left on standby.
Remember that turning your main PC unit off will not normally also turned off attached equipment such as your monitor or printer so check these separately to make sure they are also switched off properly.
Leaving your PC and monitor in standby mode regularly rather than switching them off at the end of the working day could use an additional 17% of unnecessary energy in any given 7 days.
So get into the routine of making sure your PC and monitor are fully powered down before leaving work for the day - and encourage colleagues to do likewise.
