From stationary to cat litter, you’ll be amazed at just how many recycled items are available to buy.

Try to choose items made from recycled substances next time you visit the supermarket. It could be toilet roll, kitchen paper, kitchenware, jewellery or even clothes. If you take the time to look at the products on offer, you’ll soon see that there are many recycled options available.

However, what you may not know is that recycling goes much further than this. You can buy all manner of recycled items, from a guitar to poultry bedding; Christmas decorations to decking, and even a teddy bear made from 100% recycled knitwear!

The stereotype seems to be that you'll need to pay a lot more for recycled products, but this isn’t usually the case. Recycled items vary in price. Some are cheaper than their less-sustainable counterparts, while others are a similar price, or slightly more expensive. It’s worth looking round to find variances on individual products, especially if you're planning to buy a larger item.

While many of us are now getting increasingly involved in recycling our waste such as paper, plastic bottles and cardboard, it's important that we each also get more into the habit of buying the products that are then made out of these recycled materials. This helps to complete the full recycling loop and continue to create increased demand for the use of the materials we recycle.

So, next time you’re looking for a gift, or something for the home, garden or workplace, think about whether you can buy a similar product from much more sustainable sources.
