I'd definitely recommend everyone registering to cut the unneccesary waste that is generated from unwanted mail.

I have already made appication through the GPO to cease delivering unwanted mail through my letter box. However I still get them in the way of advertisements enclosed in my Sunday newspapers. and monthly magazines, which is a sizeable amount, and would appreciate any advice as to how this can be avoided'

Ok so far, but how do I stop Royal Mail delivering letters marked "To the householder"? I would send them back with no stamp, but that would just add to the problem!

mail preference service huh. I reg. with them on line and ticked no to every single item saying that I wanted no mail from anyone as I was quite capable of contacting anyone that I wanted to do business with ( which is no one, support LOCAL traders) and guess what? umpteen emails from them for lots of different things, Even sent them emails telling them politely to get stuffed unsubscribed from them several times as well, no joy. Ended up telling them I was going to report them to the trading standards office and the office of fair trading for harassment. Not had a single email since, Postman however delivers junk mail and leaflets with the post, just cant win.

how does one cut back on Junk Mail?What about free papers,no one reads them in my home . they certainly pile up quickly,they can become a fire risk as far as i am concerned,especially if you are a tenant in a flat,and there is a build up of them,behind the front door.that persononly has to go away for a couple of weeks,we get two free papers a week in ramsgate,so you can imagine how they soon pile up! Do not think the person dilivering them would take any notice if there was a message on the door saying no junk mail or free papers,they just want to get rid of it as quickly as possible.i always feel like chasing after the person that dilivers it all !!

I subscribed to MPS yesterday - so we will see - I already have a no junk mail sign on my door.
