Glass Jars
If you have a shed or a garage it is always worth saving glass jars for jam making or preserving, or if you don't use them yourself advertise them on a recycling network. Alot of councils are collecting mixed glass that has lead to a shortage in clear glass for recycling. Better to reuse first before recycling!

The Recycle Now website will tell you whether your council collect and where your nearest drop off points are for glass.
Like Carrie; we reuse jars for making chutneys, preserving apples and Freecycle is a great place to advertise them too - they soon get snapped up!
Even our local farm shop will reuse glass jars for making jam and marmalade.

Waste Cardboard
We bought new doors for our kitchen to give it a new lease of life, rather than get a new kitchen.
However, the amount of cardboard waste was atrocious and would have filled our bin several times over. Then I found out you can compost cardboard - fantastic!
