Drink diluted drinks

Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 15:29

Drink diluted squash drinks (using tap water) rather than fizzy drinks or drinks cartons.

This will reduce the amount of packaging being discarded, leading to less pollution and energy wastage.

Ditching fizzy drinks like cola or lemonade in favour of drinking squash/cordial drinks, diluted with tap water, is a great way to reduce your plastic packaging waste.

You get far more drinks out of a litre bottle of squash than you do with the same amount of fizzy drink which means that you have less plastic waste, meaning that there is less energy needed to create new bottles.

If you send your children to school with a packed lunch, give them cordial in their lunch box rather than a can of fizzy drink.

Buy a high juice rather than a normal cordial and then it is also a lot more healthy for you too! High juice is made from 50% fruit juice so you get all the goodness of real fruit in every glass.

Also if you normally let the tap run to get the water cold before you fill your glass, collect the water that you would normally be wasting in a jug and use it on the garden or to flush the toilet. Better still, keep a jug of water in the fridge so it's cold straight away without having to run the tap.
